Last days in Halifax

After a very pleasant couple of days camping in the natural park of the highlands of Cap-Breton we are now back in Halifax and onboard l'Olonnois

Having rented the car for one more day, we decided yesterday to drive to the charming village of Lunenburg, some 150 km south of Halifax. Colourful houses, nice little shops, beautiful old two masted boats berthed alongside the dock in the city centrer, smiling people... no wonder why the city has been included in the UNESCO heritage list a few years ago.
We took also the time to visit the very interesting fisheries museum, relating the history of the cod fishing industry thorough the last centuries, definitely a must-do in this little town! And since we were hungry we ate shrimps and lobster in a small cute place with waterfront view... what could be better than such a day of wandering around and eating good food in a relatively warm weather?!

Pride of Baltimore II

Back to l'Olonnois in the late afternoon, we had a very nice dinner with the crew of the Norwegian boat Maggie (www.symaggie.no), sharing stories of their around-the-world sailing trip and discussing the possible plans for the rest of our respective journeys. After almost 3 years sailing in tropical countries, they are now on their way home and will also be sailing in Greenland this summer... we hope to meet them again sometime, somewhere...

But back to reality now, it is time for us to leave again and set the course even more north towards Newfoundland. Departure is planned for today or tomorrow, depending on the last weather forecast. The wind is still blowing quite much at the time I am writing but things should get better in the afternoon... Cap'tain, let's get ready to sail!!!!
